“The heart knoweth its own sorrow and there are times when, like David, it is comforting to think that our tears are put in a bottle and not one of them forgotten by the one who leads us in paths of sorrow.” | |
Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down. -Romans 12:15 (MSG)11/30/2012

![]() I've been Google translating it up around here this week. I've made signs, notes, cheat sheets, flash cards, and other randomness. If I actually go to the next step and display all of the many signs, our house is going to look like some sort of surreal, ginormous user manual. I've also utilized the free service as my own version of 'Ukrainian Hooked on Phonics'. I'm not so sure it's working for me but maybe the kids from Ukraine will give me an E for effort and a grin for creativity. It will be a real hoot if we find out they speak Russian instead of Ukrainian. HA! One of my little signs displays our farm rules (see below). The rules were taken from the Charlotte Mason kindergarten curriculum. They have been our 'family/farm rules' for many years now. In full disclosure, these four rules have always been more for me than the kids and I like to keep them posted to keep me in check. I have plans to print these in reverse and try to transpose them on wood to make a 'sho nuf' sign. I'll let you know how/if that turns out.... OK...so, weird post but, here's to signs, translators and a valiant, last minute effort to make our home as nurturing and enriching for our (semi)bilingual guests as the Miami Children's Museum. Aim HIGH, FarmSmiths, aim HIGH!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
