Dear amazing teacher and school ‘special person’ of my child,
First, a big thank you! We appreciate you.
It’s now 11:02 PM on the Wednesday before the last Friday of the school year. About an hour ago, we made it home from the last chorus show of the year. (It was wonderful. ) After tucking in three tired kiddos, I started trying to figure out which kid needs a puzzle for ‘puzzle day’, who needs a game for ‘game day’ and spent a moment being entirely grateful that we made it through “pet day” with no injuries to people or animals.
Then… but then, I realized my kids have nothing (NOTHING) to offer as tokens of their (and my) appreciation as we round out this year. So, I searched the cabinets for the makings of some lovely food or drink offering, searched the internet for the ‘magic gift card’ and my stash of ‘handmade cool stuff’ for something, oh, God, ANYTHING, that would be an adequate gift. And then I fell in a little defeated heap. There’s nothing, except our gratitude.
But it’s pretty BIG.
Thank you (and this is a mass thank you to all the beautiful hearts that have poured into the lives of our kids this year because that’s the tank we are filling from right now). Thank you for your time, love, acceptance, guidance and forgiveness from all of us, most of all me.
When I became a single mom a few years ago, you were a blessing. I remember thinking, “I’ll get it together soon and I won’t keep screwing it up.” HAHAHA! I’m still ‘that mom’. For instance… today. After bringing a very upset and not user friendly kitten to “pet day”, I went for the ‘end of the year medicine pickup’ in the elementary school office only to find out that Carson’s epipen expired in…. (wait for it).... 2014. I then waved a ‘happy summer!’ to the two office ladies that have gotten calls from me in the afternoon looking for my kids because I was on a call with a customer and missed the bus at the end of my driveway, forgotten to send in random notes/permissions, and generally just goofed up mom stuff in general.
Bottom line… YOU ARE A BLESSING AND I AM DOING MY BEST. THIS MOM APPRECIATES YOU AND YOU ARE LOVED BY THESE KIDS. It’s good to know what you are in life and YOU are a gift to our family =-).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being love when we need it the most.
We hope your time for yourself and the ones you love the most this summer is as amazing as you are.
BIG peace and love from the farm,
Ollie, Carson, Emma and Laura
